GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE · SETUP, UPKEEP, RECOVERY · CALGARY
When someone in Calgary searches for a plumber, a nail studio or a windshield replacement, Google shows three profiles on a map before any website. The call, the direction request and the first impression all happen there. We set the profile up properly, keep it active every week, bring it back when Google suspends it, and report what it brought you in calls and visits.
WHAT A WORKING PROFILE DID FOR OUR CLIENTS
Each line links to the full case study, with what was done and in what order.
WHY THE PROFILE COMES FIRST
For a local search, Google shows the map with three businesses above every normal result. The listing shows a rating, photos, hours and a call button, so many people decide and call without opening a single website. For that kind of buyer the profile is the storefront and the website is the brochure behind it.
The primary category decides which searches you can appear in at all. Distance from the person searching you cannot change. Activity and reviews you can: recent photos, a post this week, a review this month and a reply under it all tell Google the business is open and busy.
A searcher compares three listings in seconds: rating and how recent the reviews are, whether the photos show real work or stock images, whether the hours look current. The profile either answers those questions or sends them to the listing above.
What happens after the call is the other half, see CRM and automation.
WHAT WE DO ON THE PROFILE
A precise primary category, the secondary ones that fit, and a service list written the way people search: not "detailing", but "interior car detailing" and "headlight restoration", each with a short description.
A description with the services and the areas you serve, hours that match the door, holiday hours set in advance, and a service area that covers where you actually work. A radius that is too wide is one of the most common reasons a profile disappears from the map.
Real jobs, the team, the shop or the van, the before and after. Uploaded regularly, not once at setup. We plan them with you or take them on a shoot day.
One post a week from your photos and news: a finished job, a seasonal note, a concrete offer. Google Business Profile posts expire, so a profile posted to last month looks abandoned this month.
A review request after every finished job, a reply to every review within days, questions in the Q&A answered before a stranger answers them for you, and messaging switched on only if someone will answer it.
Where it applies: products or a menu with prices on the profile, a booking link, and a website link tagged so the visits from the profile show up on their own in your analytics.
WHAT YOU GET
The audit, every fix from it, categories and services rewritten, photos uploaded, the review request live and the first posts out. If the profile is new or suspended, this month is the setup or the reinstatement.
Three months of weekly posts and review requests. Calls, direction requests and website clicks from the profile are compared with the baseline from month one, and the searches that show the profile start to include the services we added.
A steady flow of recent reviews, a photo library from real jobs, six months of activity. You see which services the profile brings calls for and decide whether to add local SEO for the pages behind it.
The monthly fee for profile management, and the one-off fee for a setup from zero or a suspension recovery, are on the pricing page. The profile is registered to your business and stays yours.
HOW WE WORK
STEP 01
Category, name, address, service area, hours, photos, reviews, duplicates, and the Performance data for the last six months. You get a list of what is wrong and what each item costs you.
STEP 02
A new profile taken through verification with you, or an existing one corrected item by item. Edits go in slowly and in the right order, because a burst of changes is a common trigger for a suspension.
STEP 03
A post, new photos, review requests after finished jobs, replies to reviews and questions. Each one takes minutes. The advantage comes from still doing it in month four, when most competitors have stopped.
STEP 04
One page a month: calls, directions, website clicks, the searches that brought people in, review count. We read it with you in a 30-minute call and change what stopped working.
SUSPENDED PROFILE
A suspension usually follows a reason Google never states: a name that does not match the signage, a mailbox or home address shown as a storefront, a service area set to the whole province, or many edits made at once. Appealing without fixing the cause gets the appeal rejected and makes the next one harder.
We find the cause, fix it, gather the documents Google asks for in Alberta and file the reinstatement. An auto glass client of ours went through this with us and is back on the map. The full procedure, step by step, is in our guide: Google Business Profile suspended: what to do.
The profile is one part of being found locally. The pages on your site that answer the same searches are the other, and they are covered on the local SEO page. If the site itself is the weak point, start with website design in Calgary.
QUESTIONS OWNERS ASK
Yes. Google does not charge for the profile, for posts or for replies to reviews. What costs money is the time it takes to keep the profile accurate and active every week, and the mistakes made when it is set up in a hurry. Our fee covers that work, the profile itself stays free and stays yours.
The usual reasons, in the order we find them: a vague primary category, a service area set too wide, few recent reviews, no photos from real jobs, and a website that does not mention the services and the areas the profile claims. Google also weighs distance from the searcher, so a profile in the south of Calgary will rarely show for a search made in the north. We check all of this in the first week and tell you which ones apply to you.
Fewer than most owners think, as long as they keep arriving. A profile with 30 recent reviews and a reply under each one usually beats a profile with 120 reviews that stopped two years ago. We set up a review request that goes out after every finished job, and we reply to every review, including the bad ones.
Often, yes. Most suspensions we see come from a name that does not match the signage, a service area that covers the whole province, an address that is a home or a mailbox, or edits made in bulk. We fix the cause first, then file the reinstatement with the documents Google asks for in Alberta. Simple cases come back in one to two weeks, harder ones take longer, and nobody can promise Google's answer. The full procedure is in our guide on what to do when a Google Business Profile is suspended.
We need manager access to the profile, not your Google password. You add our address as a manager from the profile settings, and you stay the owner. If we stop working together, you remove the access in one click and the profile, the reviews and the history stay with you.
Yes, for two reasons. A profile that was updated this week looks like a business that is open and busy, which is what a searcher comparing three listings wants to see. And a post with a concrete offer or a photo of this week's job gives a reason to pick you rather than the listing above. We post once a week from your photos and your news.
Calls, direction requests, website clicks and messages from the profile's own Performance data, plus the searches that brought people to the profile and how the number of reviews moved. Once a month, on one page, with what we change next. Website visits from the profile are tagged, so they show up separately in your analytics.
A 30-minute call: we open your profile next to the three that outrank it, go through the Performance numbers, and tell you what we would fix first. If your rating is high but the phone is quiet, read why a 5.0 rating is not bringing you clients yet.
